It's Official--New "Mass Effect 3" Ending Content on the Way

Now let's all write to J.K. Rowling and have her change Harry Potter's ending

Between a bunch of fans starting a group called "Retake Mass Effect," some idiot reporting BioWare to the FTC and the Better Business Bureau for false advertising, and hundreds of thousands of fans just complaining on the internet, I think it's safe to say that not many people liked the ending to Mass Effect 3.

Believe it or not, BioWare is listening to its fans, and while I'm still not ready to believe rumors that any ending add-on content will be free of charge, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka has clearly stated that they are listening, that something is on the way, and that it will address fans' concerns--they just can't talk about it until April.

"Since the game launched, the team has been poring over everything they can find about reactions to the game--industry press, forums, Facebook, and Twitter, just to name a few. The Mass Effect team, like other teams across the BioWare Label within EA, consists of passionate people who work hard for the love of creating experiences that excite and delight our fans. I'm honored to work with them because they have the courage and strength to respond to constructive feedback.

"Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You'll hear more on this in April. We're working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we've received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue."

While that's very nice to hear, let me remind you torch-and-pitchfork wielding Mass Effect fans of another famous series with a very passionate fanbase...

...who hated that series' original ending...

...so the creator made a new, real ending, giving fans everything they'd asked for...

...and a little bit extra, just to teach them not to mess with him any more.

So there you have it, folks. If this turns into The End of Mass Effect, I'm blaming all the angry ME fans when my entire crew explodes into Orangina and Tali starts eating people. I dunno, what do you think? Will the rumors turn out to be reality, and BioWare will be releasing a free epilogue? Or are the DLC decriers right, and they held back the real ending to make more money off of fans?
