Yeah they do charge extra but fortunately in this case it was autocorrect catching me out - it's MPEG2/AC3 for dvd rip playback not AAC - m4a files, and psp formatted vids (which are mp4/aac via xvid4psp) both work fine on it. Annoyingly the codec for those was included in the first firmware but removed when it went to froyo, but as I'm not using the hard drive version don't really have space for that style of rip anyway!

Still it wouldn't surprise me if it's something to do with the customisations to Archos' video player that's causing it. If I have time I'll see about running a different video player on it assuming that's not stopped by the FW

*EDIT* I've also dropped a message to Archos support as if it works on the phone fine it's more likely to be their end!

I am also experiencing the logon problem with the app. Every time I try to log in, the "logging in" window will stay there for close to a minute, then I'll get the message that Crunchyroll has stopped working and I have to force close the app. This happens every time - I have yet to successfully log in.

I'm running a Droid X with the latest official 2.2.1 updates. No custom ROMS or modifications - the phone hasn't even been rooted. I see other X users are able to log in, so it seems it's not a general problem with the X.

This might be a known issue:

When you receive a call while watching the video, it resets the video to the beginning. I believe these "resets" are all the same issue of how the video is managed (with caching). But I'm just speculating here.

Interesting "reset" issue

When looking at the default App "Simulcast" you can change the view to "Anime" or "Drama"

HOWEVER, if you rotate the phone, the "Anime" reverts back to "Simulcast"

You loose your view when you rotate the phone.

I'm getting the "video cannot be played" on every video i try. This is on an European Galaxy S.
At first i was having problems logging on as well but a restart fixed that issue.

It's great that you take the time to make such an app though, and I really hope you can sort this out

Thanks for making the app, however it force closes whenever I try to load a video on my Samsung Galaxy Tab. The login process was fine.

I click play, the screen goes black (looks like loading video player) and says "Refreshing data. Please wait", and then force closes.

It happens on whatever video I try, and I've restarted the phone etc. I'm using wifi. Not sure what else to do to try and troubleshoot to fix it.

Hope you can sort it out so that the app is useable :)


- Videos may play for a bit then prompt an error message and cause the video player to close or crash


Edit: Just read the above. It's not mentioned on the app in the marketplace at all, and it's kind of hidden in the forum >.<

When I try watch a video it says get access. But I already have a 2 week trial.

Edit - I cancelled my membership a while ago because of no android app but now that their is one their is so many problems and not enough shows, the only show I wanted to watch was Gintama and its not on here.

All of Gintama is already available. Just press Menu, select Anime to see the full list and scroll down to Gintama.

Does the app support keyboard shortcuts? In particular, arrow keys for jumping forward/backwards for some seconds (better if the jump time is settable). On other video apps I have, dragging my finger on the slider bar isn't very accurate or I end up jumpimg too far. Thanks.

App works great on my LG Optimus. Only thing is not having access to the catalog titles I've searched for in the menu, but I assume that's just because they're on the to-do list for encoding.

i consider the trial period just for the ability to watch anime on my phone but i notice theres is a lack of content compare the actual site. As of now i want to watch Asura Crying and the episode list doesnt appear on the info and when i go to another anime it would appear with episodes and all. please help...

Been toying around with the app for a little while now, and the basic trend I'm noticing is that anime that were not part of a simulcast (such as Fist of the North Star, Pretty Cure, and Air Master) are not yet available on the app. Either that, or the episode lists just are not loading, for whatever reason. It's not as if it gives me any indication otherwise.

Any predictions on when we'll be able to look forward to more shows being available?
