I feel as though I'm beating a dead horse with my overly long and exacting demand for anime requests. So I'll try one more time (maybe being more vague helps...) and hope for the best! Oh, and thanks giraffeswillrule and mipegg, but I've seen all those anime!
[Request] Shoujo-romance, thriller, action-adventure, slice of life, or comedy anime. E) Comedy (Easiest) 1) NO ROMANTIC COMEDIES!! 2) Ecchi/fanservice is fine here 3) No real preference but liked GTO, My Ordinary Life, Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star (have heard of Daily Lives of High School Boys) B) Thriller (2nd easiest) 1) Something like Monster, Paprika, Perfect Blue, AKIRA, Death Note, Durarara!!, Baccano!, Code Geass 2) Basically something very psychological and/or makes a person go "What the @$%*?!" 3) Have an interest in mystery and sci-fi like anime (Question: What exacty is Ergo Proxy about?) D) Slice of Life (Not as particular) 1) No fantasy/supernatural stuff--i.e. no magical girlfriends, people falling out of the sky, aliens, vampires, etc. 2) NO SPORTS, ecchi/hentai 3) Something like 5cm Per Second, Whisper of the Heart, Hanasaku Iroha (haven't seen but want to: Summer Wars, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time), Usagi Drop, Wandering Son, Beck, FLCL, or even Tokyo Godfathers! C) Action-adventure (Intermediate) 1) NO LONG RUNNERS!! 50-100+ episodes MAX!! 2) Some supernatural/fantasy feel--i.e. demons or made up creatures, superpowers; examples: half-demons, Claymores, chiropterans 3) NO MECHA 4) Nothing "mainstream" or overrated--i.e. Hitman, Blue Exocist, Fairy Tale, the big 3 (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) 4) Something like InuYasha, Blood+, Yu Yu Hakusho, Zatch Bell OR Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in Shell, Lost Universe, Heat Guy J A) Shoujo Romance (Hardest) 1) No stories like Kimi ni Todoke or Say "I Love" or My Little Monster 2) No romantic-comedies like School Rumble 3) No ecchi/hentai/male harems (unless like To Heart, Maburaho, or Suzuka) 4) No fantasy/supernatural/action love stories unless like InuYasha or Escaflowne (and/or Blood+) 5) Something like NANA (more mature), Kare Kano (actually developing a relationship), or Marmalade Boy (realistic, yet lots of drama) |

I was wondering if anyone could help me find some anime that are somewhat similiar to the following.
1) I love a good, light-hearted, comedy. It's what I prefer to watch as some of my favorite animes are "Lucky star" and "Morita-san wa mukuchi" (I can't quite remember if that's exactly how the title goes, since it's a foreign tounge) (Also, while I do indeed love the latter, I would prefer that any suggestions be of full-length shows). But, yeah, something about these shows just really appeals to me. Maybe it's laid-back, not-trying-to-hard-to-get-a-laugh-out-of-you feeling of the shows and it's really what I'd most prefer to get some suggestions for...So if anyone knows of any, I'd be truly gratefull. 2) I like "Toradora" alot...If anyone knows a show like that (though, maybe a little less melodramatic), then I would be interested to check it out. Thanks. 3) And finally, I love, love, LOVE "Gantz", "Another" and (my favorite anime of all-time) "Hell Girl". I like to see really depressing, character-driven, super-violence. If you know of any, please tell me. Well, that's all. Thanks in advance, guys. Have a nice day (lol, Mankind) and God bless. |

Request:
I really like action whether it be swordplay (which I favor), guns, or supernatural.....comedy or mostly serious doesn't matter.... My favorites so far are Bleach, SAO, Blue Exorcist, and Full Metal.... any suggestions?? Also to be a little more specific I also like shows where the main character gets stronger or where they have some kind of evil power inside then that they can bring out like Ichigo's hollow or Rin's blue flames(these are not a must just preference) I also use Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Netflix |

Other than that try X/1999, its not entirely focussed around sword play but it is in there, there is definitely the whole evil power stuff going on in that. Make sure you get the series not the movie |

Haven't seen or completed watching most of the titles you've listed, but here are some historical time setting anime: Samurai Champloo-Edo Period (like almost every samurai anime ever) InuYasha-Edo Period again Rose Versailles-French Revolution Monster-During and after the fall of the Berlin Wall in Germany (and later the Czech Republic) The Grave of Fireflies-WWII Japan when the Atom Bomb drops Princess Mononoke-Not exactly sure, but I've read somewhere that's it's set around the time when most of the indigenous people of Japan were still alive. So basically a really long time ago. Shigurui-I'm going out on a limb and saying Edo Period because of the samurai Claymore-Sort of the period of Medieval knights only with women and demon-slaying Baccano!-Early 1900s America Chevalier D'Eon-? France Enma or is it Emma?-Victorian England? Basilisk-? I recommend looking at samurai or set in Euorpe anime for more historical setting anime. Trixxter13 wrote: Spoiler Alert! Blood+--The main character is a type of vampire (don't worry, she doesn't sparkle) whose blood can kill another kind of this vampire and the vampire-like creatures she's forced to kill. She starts out weak because she doesn't remember who she is, first of all, and also because she doesn't want to kill. By the 2nd season she's full-fledged and awesome. Deadman Wonderland--The main character that is bascially the whinty-crybaby male shounen lead. He feels like he gets in the way (he just doesn't know what he's doing) and cries about. But unlike other whiny shounen lead, he dedicates himself to becoming stronger and starts to train with an ally by the end of the 1st arc. MustacheCashStash wrote: Spoiler Alert! AKIRA--If anything, this anime movie is just a massive head trip. *You have been warned!* Neon Gensis Evangelian Elfin Lied Vampire Princess Miyu--This isn't really "super-violence" but I guess it can fit depressing to most. It's an old anime and sort of has the whole Hell Girl feel to it. Higurashi no naku koro ni Future Diary Deadman Wonderland Umineko Baccano!--Not entirely "super-violence" again, but does have lots of blood Devil May Cry--Same as above Hellsing Red Garden--Not really all I think, but is character-driven |

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Godsmen So you like shonen stuff? Since you've seen Samurai X, I assume you've also seen Rurouni Kenshin. If not, watch that. Gurren Lagann Soul Eater Fairy Tail Gintama (more of a comedy action show, but still very good) One Piece Tegami Bachi Letter Bee Darker than Black Code Geass Baccano If you try Baccano and like it, I'd try Durarara. The same author wrote both book series. They are different, but both are good (Baccano is better, IMO) .Hack Sign (My favorite .hack anime series, but there are other .hack series as well) is another video game anime series. Also, Magi is currently airing, and is turning out to be a very fun show (I haven't caught up, but what I've seen has been good). |

MustacheCashStash wrote: @ YukinoMiyazawa Thanks, those all sound great . To be honest, I wasn't expecting to get a reply so quickly, let alone a full list .Well, I'm glad I was able to help. Hopefully this isn't too much, but I remembered some light-hearted anime. I don't know what laid-back, light-hearted comedies mean to you, so some of these anime may not exactly fit... I'll exclude any ecchi heavy anime though! 1) Azumanga Daioh Pani Poni Dash!! The Best Student Council Bamboo Blade--This isn't a "comedy-comedy" but more of a slice of life/ coming of age anime about kendo....with comedy in it. Shin Chan--This is sort of like South Park--i.e. About a group of kids (kindergardeners?) with lots of adult jokes and references. The dub is actually a gag dub. Ouran High School Host Club--Many caterogize this as a romantic-comedy, but I think that for something to be a romantic-comedy it actually needs romance in it. School Rumble--THIS is a romantic comedy! FLCL--This isn't so much laid-back as just weird, but awesome. Full Metal Panic! (Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is the more comedic of the series) My Ordinary Life Yotsuba& Super GALS! GTO--Has some ecchi in it, but not much. It's a more "mature" anime. Oh, and for 3 you should add: Serial Experiments Lain, Ergo Proxy, and Night Head Genesis. These aren't super-violence either, but are character-driven, and I guess depressing. They're all sci-fi anime. Sci-fi anime tend to be depressing and heavily character-driven. |
