Barely any movies or series, and forget about dramas have been avaiable in my region... Catalog titles are almost always for North America, as well as Drama series. Its just licensing ~ the catalog titles are licensed from their overseas distributor, who normally only has North American rights, and the organization licensing the Dramas are probably still organized to licensed to subscription television services, which are normally country by country. That's one reason the anime and drama memberships are split, so Crunchyroll members outside of North America don't think they are paying for dramas they can almost never see. |

Kinda ironic how the industry wants to stop online piracy, while strangling the market.
How are we (the consumers) supposed to watch stuff legally, when it's not available to us? |

NyanNyan!

Just one question: Is it the uncensored version of Queens blade?
|
|

Like the first series, it is provided by Media Blasters (which is why it is U.S. & Canada only), so it should be the same uncensored version as on DVD. |

Yes, that's my real age.

After agruing and ranting around the forums about this matter, I can say that CR has really turn a blind eye for us. |

Crunchyroll cannot just snap their fingers and force the original licensors to offer worldwide-outside-Japan rights. They've got to take what rights are available. And Crunchyroll cannot offer minimum guarantees that are bigger than the series is going to earn in royalties, not if they hope to stay in business long term. Crunchyroll bids for international rights for every anime series broadcast in Japan. This season, Crunchyroll got international streaming rights of some sort for over 2/3 of their simulcasts. Heck, 30% of the simulcasts this season are available in Africa ~ a legit North American streaming site does not pick up rights to stream to Africa because the Japanese are begging them to pick up the African rights! If they "didn't care", know how many international licenses they'd have? Zero, because chasing international rights is harder work than just chasing North American rights. Count up what percentage of Crunchyroll series are available in the UK, and what percentage of Funimation.com series. Count up what percentage of Crunchyroll series are available in South America and what percentage of TheAnimeNetwork.com series. Heck, for Hulu, count up what percentage of Crunchyroll series are available in Canada and what percentage of Hulu.com series. If you want, go ahead and complain about the original rights owners being run by a bunch of old men who don't understand the Internet. But don't pretend that there is some kind of easy action Crunchyroll could do to get a lot more international rights "if they only cared". |
