Firefox just stopped being able to play crunchyroll videos for me last night. I don't know what the issue is. My only guess is that it's something to do with a new Firefox version but I don't see any other posts here on it. I'm using Firefox 14.0.1 and Shockwave Flash 11.3.300.268.

According to Firefox that's the latest flash version. I'm stumped. I seem to be able to watch fine with Chrome so I'm not suffering withdrawal... just Firefox is my browser of choice and it kind of makes me uneasy that it's not doing what it's supposed to.

I checked the version of Firefox I'm using and the version of Flash installed for it, and both match what you have. As the last video I viewed at CR was about 3 hours ago, I checked again, and no problem here. Unfortunately, it appears you have a problem specific to your installation.

What extensions or plug-ins (other than Flash) do you have installed?

Apparently on the Firefox forums there's others with the same issue. Per their forums the latest Flash isn't compatible with the latest Firefox. The work around is to install an old version of Flash. I think I'm going to just use Chrome until it gets fixed. Although I find it interesting that you have the same versions that I do and no problems. Go figure.

Unless one of the extensions I have installed is somehow correcting the problem, I don't see how that could be the issue. As I noted, I am running the same version of Firefox (14.01) with the same version of Flash (11.3.300.268) as you reported, and have no problems playing videos at Crunchyroll.

The only extension I am running that I would expect might have some positive effect would be NoScript. Oddly, this same extension is the same one that causes EVS videos at Funimation to fail (even if I allow every domain on the list). Coincidentally, I use Chrome for that site as my fix, since it turns out even IE has some issues there.

One other possibility might be an interaction of Firefox, Flash, and the type of video driver. My system is running the AMD video driver (Catalyst 11.6, as I recall). It might be that the problem only occurs using Intel and/or NVIDIA graphics? Does your system have either of those by an chance?

Nvidia graphics.. Yeah. I could try updating the drivers for it to see if that helps.

I updated the video driver. I uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. It won't work.

Finally found a solution. (there are others with the problem). I restarted firefox and lost the link to the in depth explanation. Essentially the fix was to disable download and recording in real player. I don't ever use this software for anything but it's on my computer. It has something to do with a recent security feature added in the latest Flash player. I don't know what they did but apparently Real Player was breaking it and disabling the plugin in Firefox wasn't enough to fix it - if I hadn't found the thread there's no way I would have guessed how to fix this.

I have the same version of Firefox and Flash as you guys. Since the upgrade, videos at Crunchyroll won't play. My computer plays videos at other sites (Youtube, Viki...etc.) fine. I tried uninstalling the new version and reinstalling older versions of Firefox and Flash to no avail. I have disabled "downloading and recording" in RealPlayer and disabled all RealPlayer plugins in FireFox browser but Crunchyhroll videos still won't work. Crunchy videos won't play in IE also.
