Wow, I can't believe you guys are acting like this ....

Yeah, there were "better" pumpkins. Meaning more "effort" or something, but I liked this pumpkin, it was round like Poyo Poyo.

There are tons of reasons I chose that pumpkin, but why should I have to explain myseld? You guys are kind of acting like poor sports. ...

I'd be more for explaining if you were nice... ALSO, the winner of the contest can see these posts, you know, how do you think it makes her feel ? Crunchyroll users are better than this, I know you all are, usually you all support each other...

right now, I am disappoint.

Wait a moment, we are acting like poor sports for requesting to know why the 4 pumpkins were chosen? You quoted my post like I did something wrong, I passed on my congratulations to the pumpkins that were chosen, but I also choose to voice my feelings regarding it, not a single thing is wrong with that. Take a look at the winners comment, is she being rude for stating others were better then her's and questioning how she won?

Let's take a moment to look at how the "contest" was presented to us the community.

Not a single occurrence of the word "I", as referring to this was your contest was used in the entire first post. It was advertised as being hosted by crunchyroll, how were we to know you would be solely responsible for picking the pumpkin you simply "liked"? We were left to assume (at our own peril apparently) that the "contest" would be judged based on how well the pumpkins were done. Is that not usually the point of a contest?

As to your comment stating you would be more willing to explain if we were nice? You are not being very nice to us by implying we were "rude" simply for asking a question about the contest that severely lacked information. You stated you are disappointed that anyone even brought up this issue, but then go to state there would have been a "nicer" way to do it? Not a single person was rude to any person or attacked them directly, we all simply expressed the desire to want to know how the pumpkins were picked.

Let me take a few moments to analyze the pumpkins that were chosen and explain what I liked and disliked about them.

Evilium - Poyo Poyo Pumpkin : I personally like this pumpkin, I like the fact that she attempted to use as much real-estate of the pumpkin as she could. The use of the curve in the pumpkin to give the creature a 3D like appearance was a fantastic touch that seems to never be used. The Japanese? on the side of the pumpkin was a nice touch as well. I was not a huge fan of the "Hiya" that was added, it seems like it took away from the over all pumpkin.

Skryia - SAO Pumpkin : Another nice pumpkin, his attempts at shaving to lessen the light that shined in some important spots was not lost. The fact that he cut at an angle to prevent the light from shine completely threw on the outside was nice as well, gave a nice glow to the background. It would have been very nice to see some more of the shaved parts cut out for better definition.

Fireaxe - BSP Pumpkin : What is not to like about this pumpkin? He was able to successfully shave a very good circle to encompass the design. The minimal use of detail in the skeleton really helps you to realize it is in fact a skeleton, it worked out perfectly. Would have been nice to see a touch of originality added, as it is almost an exact copy of the subject material. (Mine is also this way).

Mico171 - Magi Pumpkin : This pumpkin took advantage of something no one else used, and that was the use of props. While the subject of the pumpkin alone would have caused some confusion, the addition of the drawling provided just enough background information for you to know what is going on. The wire used for the hair was a nice touch since the use of a candle would not have worked out so well with the image prop that was used. I would have liked to see the kiss and the lips carved out instead of draw on, but to each his own. The accidental frost just added to the presentation in my opinion as it helps the "ghost like" pose that was chosen.

If I have offended any of the chosen pumpkins in any way, I am sorry, that was not my intentions.

Since when...am I not ..... crunchyroll ..............

Usually, when I make a contest, the users know that it's .... my contest ? I run contests here at the crunchyroll office ~ ! It's a big part of my job. But, I guess you're saying I should re-state that in every contest?

About me being rude, thinking others were rude. I'm making an observation as the crunchyroll employee holding this contest. I'm sorry, but I'm very protective over the users, so when I see you unhappy, aswell as having the means to assume that maybe the winners could feel harassed, I'm going to say something.

Also, thanks for your thoughts on the winners ~ !

I've come to understand that not everyone is happy, or agrees with my choices on who wins when it comes to my contests, but the winners are who I think followed directions, were creative, had fun, and obviously watched the anime they chose. :3 This doesn't mean these things weren't the case for the other entries, but I chose the ones that stood out to me. :3

I am sorry, I was not aware that you were the sole voice for CrunchyRoll, I had no idea that when "CrunchyRoll" was refereed to, it means you. So yes, if you are going to continue to use "we" where you should be using "I", then please by all means let everyone know that it is your contest to avoid problems in the future. A company sponsored contest should be held to a higher standard then one that is simply held by a sole employee, I would have never questioned the judging if I had known that prior.

As to you making an observation, thank you for being protective of the winners instead of everyone that took part in the contest, I am not sure why the winners having a chance to feel "harassed" warrants any more protection than the losers feeling unhappy with the judging. Thank you for caring enough about the "losers" to state the means in which the contest would be "judged" by you, thank you for providing clear information from the start.

The "requirements" to win are a bit strange if you ask me, the following directions does not even apply here because we had no actual carving directions. I am not sure how you measure how much "fun" was had in carving the pumpkin, nor how you can tell if the anime was watched or not.

All that was asked of you was to provide information about the judging process, something that should have been done from the start.

Judging like this is common on forum events all over the internet, that is why its best NEVER to get your hopes up because in the end its whoever the judge likes best or who connected with the judge best not necessarily who did the best. I used to help run events on a game's forum and was an event judge, not everyone will be happy but I find that less people are irritated if its stated in the contest rules how the judging will be handled.

With that being said I think the poyo poyo pumpkin was very cute so congrats to the winner also the one with the Bentenmaru's sigil was creative and of course I love the Kirito one since its SAO :P

I'm not going to argue with you any more, you're taking this wayyy over-the-top ~

I've always worded my contests this way and it's never been a problem ...

Also, I didn't think I came off as only defending the "winners" -- in other contests, no one has ever acted like this, so I guess I didn't know how to deal with it ? Usually, everyone congratulates the winners and the world keeps on spinning ~ !!!

I took my time choosing the winner, it came down to one of the SAO designs and the winner - and I chose ~~~

I'm sorry you don't agree, and that the popular majority also doesn't agree, but evilium deserves the win, and if anyone else wants to tell me that they deserve it more, they may.

THAT BEING SAID.

All future contests held by me will be judged using a score-card which will be presented to the contestants at the beginning of the contest.

I'm sorry for any trouble.

Howdy!

Just jumping in here to give my 2 cents.

I apologize that you feel slighted, however this is a contest being put on my Crunchyroll. As there's no monetary entry fee, and it's all for fun and is free to boot, I really don't see how you can react the way you are.

In the future, as Thumper's Mom said, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Best,

Feel free to take your own advice. Nothing I have said has been offensive in the slightest, so you can keep your change :)

I guess asking a question regarding the judging is forbidden.

@SailorBee: Thank you for the information, that is how I feel a contest should be. I am all for random drawling based on those who entered as well if a winner could not be decided upon. I to agree that this was blown out of epic proportions, the simple request for some simple information was blown way out of the water and seems to have been viewed as a personal attack against you or the winners. I just wanted to know how they were judged, anything else anyone assumed from my post was at their own fault.
