I think organized education's main benefit lies in the economy of scale. You can probably learn all that you can learn in your garage if you really tried, but you'll rarely have the opportunity to utilize the efficiency provided by a collective of peers with similar goals -- united we stand, as they say. I guess education is like joining a club.
Not really, you can enroll in a public school and be isolated from people and collaboration opportunities the entire time.

I dropped out of high school after my first year cuz I wasn't doing well in such a big school with all the kids after being in a small country school with like 40 kids in the school in total, and then going to a school with like 30 kids in a class room. Then I started homeschooling and eventually got my GED, and lately I've been thinking of going to community college to see if I can't expand my knowledge of computers and their mystical ways.

you may want to add quite a few years onto that estimate, i highly doubt ai will be that advanced by then unless there is some sort of major breakthrough.
More on topic i did a few years of computing science at uni,
i sort of left before completion.
